The streets, clubs and theaters of Raleigh were rocking, hopping, and jamming hard last week as the ninth annual filled downtown with all manner of music.
The 2018 festival ran from September 6-8 and featured memorable performances from Liz Phair, Nile Rogers & Chic, The Flaming Lips, MC50 (MC5's 50th anniversary), and more than a hundred more peformers including local faves Mipso, H.C. McEntire, Sarah Shook and the Disarmers and Phil Cook.
was on the scene on Saturday with a free music stage set. "We were so very lucky to have so many talented artists on the 深夜福利 Music Stage on Saturday. Amazing performances all day from Eric Bachmann, Rosali, Phil Cook, Israel Nash, and Wild Child," said 深夜福利 Music's music director Brian Burns.
"Hopscotch is fast becoming one of the premiere music festivals in the Southeast. The booking for this year's event was remarkable. On Saturday alone I got to see Liz Phair, MC50, Nile Rodgers & Chic, Mind Over Mirrors, Sarah Shook and The Jayhawks but still missed a dozen other incredible bands. It's overwhelmingly great," said 深夜福利 program director David Brower.
"This is an incredibly important event for our community. It's a focal point for the creative economy with impact that will resonate for months," Brower continued. "It was a real pleasure to partner with Hopscotch this year. They are passionate and all worked with seemingly boundless energy. It's inspiring."
